Congrats to Josh!

I just wanted to tell everyone how proud I am of my wonderful husband. He just got a well-deserved promotion at work, and is now “Senior” Software Engineer at Google! I sneaked a peek at his performance evaluation which is not only written by his boss but by his peers also. The things they said were so incredible, everyone genuinely respects, admires and values his expertise. I even got teary-eyed a couple of times because the comments they made are so awesome! Congratulations Josh… I love you so much!!

It’s a Girl!

We had our big ultrasound today and it showed that we are having a girl! We suspected it would be from an ultrasound my doctor did a couple of weeks ago, but the picture was kinda dark. But today’s pictures were pretty clear- we saw everything we needed to! and all looks healthy.

The ultrasound was SO long- it took two hours since we had an “Intern” ultrasound technician. As soon as we thought we were done, the real tech came in and took all the pictures over again, just to be sure! I was getting tired and a bit uncomfortable lying flat on my back for that long, but it was nice to watch the baby for so long. Josh had come with me, and thankfully he was able to pick up Liam from preschool- I had assumed I’d be able to get him in time, with no problem, I hadn’t foreseen the delay.

Here are some new photos of the baby, they’re ok, but it was more fun to see her bopping around in there the whole time. She sure didn’t like being poked about! She has been so active the last week, even Josh can feel her kicking and wiggling now! It’s so cute you can tell she is still pretty tiny, but she’s kicking and punching hard.

Oh boy, we’re going to have to learn all over again- I have no idea what to do with a girl! or how to dress her for that matter…

Due date (or, C-section date) is still September 21st.

Ultrasound

We had an ultrasound this week and got some great early pictures of the new baby! Here they are.
We didn’t get to find out the gender but we were assured all looks very healthy. He or she was bopping around in there like crazy, and I’m starting to feel it more and more. We are so excited!

My husband bought me a car for my birthday- unbelievable!!!! I’ve never been so surprised in my entire life, oh wait, except when he proposed to me, that was an even awesome-r surprise :)
We had been looking at minivans (yes, I’m ready for it) and had narrowed it down, but I thought we weren’t getting it for months! Josh surprised me with the nicest one with all the fancy trimmings like Leather, DVD and Navigation! SOOO COOL! It’s a Honda Odyssey EXL, Slate color. I can’t believe he went through all the trouble to do that- I felt like I was in a movie! Let’s hope I don’t smash this one like I did my last new car, argh…
Here’s photos of my beautiful car!

Another Baby on the Way!

We are expecting our second baby! It’s still early, but we’ve seen a heartbeat so things are looking good. The due date is not until the end of September though! So I’m only 2 months right now. I feel great, no morning sickness or fatigue (yet!), like I had last time. I’m craving fruit and Ranch dressing, but not together :)

Liam is so excited to be a big brother. He has already offered most of his precious toys to the baby, even the pirates and dinosaurs! He says the baby can sleep on his pillow, also another closely guarded item. He’s been asking for a baby sister even before we got pregnant. We can’t decide what would be more fun- a little girl, something new, or another boy, a brother for Liam to sword fight with :)

I will post again soon with any updates…

Family Fun in Florida

We just got back from Florida. We went to see Aunt Joan and Uncle Jack at their house near Daytona Beach, and some of the cousins (their three kids and 6 grandkids). It was so much fun! There were 15 of us in the house, including 7 kids, so Liam had a ball running around with them, and we had fun visiting with everyone. Josh and I were so pampered, and I barely had to take care of Liam either, since there were so many adults. Lots of family fun, dinners, baseball, Disney (MGM and Epcot). We even got to see the shuttle launch the day we arrived! That was fantastic. A really great vacation!!
Here are some of the photos, maybe some videos too if I can get them uploaded.

European Vacation 2007

We had a great 3-week trip! We got back a week ago today but are still pretty jet-lagged somehow. I say “trip” because I realized that you don’t really have a vacation once you’re a parent :) But it was great fun anyhow. Liam was incredibly good on the plane, both ways. He played, slept, ate, slept some more and watched tv. Our fellow passengers complimented him on his good behavior, and one even said she had no idea there was even a toddler on the plane!

Josh’s Mom passed away on September 13, 2007 at age 59. She battled breast cancer for twelve long years, and was an incredible fighter. She was laid to rest at El Toro Memorial Park. We’ll miss her always.

Here are some photos: memorial reception, cemetery, old photos

Father’s Day, 2007

What a great day! Liam and Clare had an action packed Father’s Day planned for me today. I started it by sleeping in, followed by a great “fake” breakfast (Egg Beaters, Turkey Bacon, and Instant Coffee from England that I love). For gifts, I got a whole bunch of clothes (pants, shirts, shorts, flip flops) as well as a new bike seat for Liam for my bike! After breakfast we ran some errands and then headed to Mason Park in Irvine for a picnic, kite flying, and running around with Liam. Liam napped for a bit after coming home and then Clare, Liam, and I rode our bikes around the neighborhood. It was a great, full, and relaxing day! I love my family :) .

Second Birthday!

As of June 2nd, we are parents of a 2-year old kid! We had a big party (15 kids aged 0 to 3) in the park with a bouncehouse, which was very popular with the toddlers. The theme was Thomas the Tank Engine, since Liam is really into trains right now, so he received alot of Thomas-themed gifts which was great.

Grandad from England was here a couple of weeks ago (photos!) and got Liam a nice wooden trainset, which he has been playing with virtually non-stop, so Josh and I got him a train table to go with it. Grandma got him a playhouse, which is also a big hit with Liam and his friends. Nonnie got him a drumset for little kids (yes, with our permission!) and he loves that too. Thanks to everyone for making Liam’s birthday so special!

Potty training has commenced but in a very relaxed fashion, and at this early stage we are letting Liam set the pace, which is working out very well as he is already using the potty alot (even for going #2!). The doctor said that he is in the 95th percentile for height (very tall). This last fortnight has also been a verbal explosion and Liam has begun to put two words together and is mimicking us more than ever before. He still has some trouble with multi-syllabic words but has a few, like “water.”

He still loves tormenting the cat but a new found favorite fun is Play-Doh Liam has also been extremely attached to his Daddy, and sometimes even cries when he leaves for work in the morning, but has been really looking forward to their weekend bicycle rides around the neighborhood. He has been alot less independent lately, wanting me to play with him almost constantly, which I can’t do no matter how much I enjoy it! So I’m thinking it’s time to work on a sibling for him to play with!! Maybe later this year?
