Father’s Day, 2007

What a great day! Liam and Clare had an action packed Father’s Day planned for me today. I started it by sleeping in, followed by a great “fake” breakfast (Egg Beaters, Turkey Bacon, and Instant Coffee from England that I love). For gifts, I got a whole bunch of clothes (pants, shirts, shorts, flip flops) as well as a new bike seat for Liam for my bike! After breakfast we ran some errands and then headed to Mason Park in Irvine for a picnic, kite flying, and running around with Liam. Liam napped for a bit after coming home and then Clare, Liam, and I rode our bikes around the neighborhood. It was a great, full, and relaxing day! I love my family :) .

Second Birthday!

As of June 2nd, we are parents of a 2-year old kid! We had a big party (15 kids aged 0 to 3) in the park with a bouncehouse, which was very popular with the toddlers. The theme was Thomas the Tank Engine, since Liam is really into trains right now, so he received alot of Thomas-themed gifts which was great.

Grandad from England was here a couple of weeks ago (photos!) and got Liam a nice wooden trainset, which he has been playing with virtually non-stop, so Josh and I got him a train table to go with it. Grandma got him a playhouse, which is also a big hit with Liam and his friends. Nonnie got him a drumset for little kids (yes, with our permission!) and he loves that too. Thanks to everyone for making Liam’s birthday so special!

Potty training has commenced but in a very relaxed fashion, and at this early stage we are letting Liam set the pace, which is working out very well as he is already using the potty alot (even for going #2!). The doctor said that he is in the 95th percentile for height (very tall). This last fortnight has also been a verbal explosion and Liam has begun to put two words together and is mimicking us more than ever before. He still has some trouble with multi-syllabic words but has a few, like “water.”

He still loves tormenting the cat but a new found favorite fun is Play-Doh Liam has also been extremely attached to his Daddy, and sometimes even cries when he leaves for work in the morning, but has been really looking forward to their weekend bicycle rides around the neighborhood. He has been alot less independent lately, wanting me to play with him almost constantly, which I can’t do no matter how much I enjoy it! So I’m thinking it’s time to work on a sibling for him to play with!! Maybe later this year?
