Big Baby Syndrome

Posted in Baby | No Comments »

So, the latest on the baby front! Liam suffers from Macrosomia… aka “Big Huge Baby Syndrome”. At our last ultrasound he weighed in at 4.1 pounds, when he should have been 3 pounds. That basically places him in the 99.9 percentile for size and weight. This also means that Clare will most likely have to have a C-section in order to deliver safely. We have mixed feelings about that, but it will probably wind up being a Good Thing ™.

We’ve also started our classes… Baby CPR, Baby Care Basics (that one was a good one), and Lamaze. I can’t believe I have to go to the Breast Feeding Workshop… but, I will be a good soldier.

This weekend was pretty packed. Saturday was Mike and Michelle’s baby shower, immediately followed by a going away party for a friend of ours. Today Clare went to another friend’s baby shower while I did some contract work from home, changed the brakes on my car, and took a bicycle ride (couldn’t help it, the weather’s just been too nice).

Baby Shower!

Thank you to everyone who came to the baby shower! And thank you to everyone who couldn’t make it but sent gifts anyways! You were all very generous, Liam is going to have so many people who love him; and so much stuff to play with. We received THE cutest wardrobe for him, he’ll be the best dressed kid around…

There were so many people at the shower, I wish I could have spent more time with everyone! But it was great. There were SIX pregnant people in attendance! It was a sight, most of us waddling around…

Now it’s time to start putting everything away and getting the baby’s room finished!

My Birthday!

I had a great 29th birthday (on March 24th) thanks to Josh! He organized a dinner with my close friends which was great, and then he surprised me with a short trip up to Montecito (Santa Barbara). We stayed in a small adorable hotel, relaxed, had incredible weather, walked the little shops, and sat in cafes. We even stopped for an impromptu picnic at Santa Monica. It was hard for me to relax for too long though, since I can never get comfortable and so I’m antsy most of the time. The drive was beautiful and only took us 3 hours to get there, of course we still had to stop 2 or 3 times for me.

It was so much fun! I have a wonderful husband…
