BUH-buh-BUH-buh-BUH-buh

Each time we go to see the doctor they surprise us with something… yesterday’s visit started with the nurse saying “ok, we’re going to try and hear the baby’s heartbeat”. And, sure enough, with just a little microphone and speaker, pressed up against Clare’s belly… “BUH-buh-BUH-buh-BUH-buh” (I typed that super-fast to simulate the speeding little heart… gonna have to trust me on that). The nurse said that we’ll get to hear it during each visit, so next time I’ll make sure to record the sound to my Palm and post it here.

The doctor said Clare’s health is perfect, all of the blood tests came back great. Our doctor is also pregnant, and due next month. She’ll definitely be back in time to delivery our baby. :)

It’s official

Ok, it’s official, we’re pregnant. There’s definitely a baby in there.

For those of you that don’t already know, Clare and I are having a baby!!! It’s still very early, 8 weeks. Today was our first ultrasound. It’s purpose was to see the location, size, and hopefully heartbeat of the baby. And, of course, to see how many are in there!

It was a very exciting doctor’s appointment! They verified that there’s only a single embryo and that it’s placement is perfect. They got the size as well to set a more exact due date… which is still around June 19th (today they said June 16th). The heartbeat part was COOL. You could actually see in the scan the little heart beating. It’s crazy! They timed the beats as well, and everything at this stage is perfect.

Next ultrasound at about 18 weeks will give us much more info… including the sex (yes, we’re going to find that out… we’re planners, people).

Clare is exhausted and nauseous, but happy. Food aversions, mostly, not too many cravings (well, beyond the norm, of course ;) .
