Painting Debacle
Posted in House | 1 Comment »As some of you may know, we’ve been getting ready to paint the outside of our house. We had new windows put in several months ago, and the stucco needed to be patched up and the entire house repainted. It took us two months to pick out a color we liked. We’d go back and forth with several colors, each one we thought we liked would get painted on the side of the house to test it out. We finally chose one and had the painters come out.
On the day they painted the new color (also the day they were finishing up), I came home and hated it. It was awful (Pic 1, Pic 2). The color in these pictures looks BETTER than the color it was in person. It was very dark, and kinda orange.
Pretty distraught, I called the painters up; “ok, how much to repaint the whole thing?” He came out and we discussed repainting. We had to pick a color right then, so we chose to match the same color as a house that’s on our street that looks pretty good.
The new color is boring, bland, and without color. It’s also very similar to the original house color. Figures. $1,700 for the original paint job, plus $700 for them to repaint a second color.
But, the house looks much better than it did before (Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4, Pic 5).
